Plan for Coursework
Idea 1
I would like to compare 'The Color Purple' by Alice Walker and 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens because they both show how the character changes and develops through the book (as they get older). Idea 2 Due to 'The Color Purple' being a feminist novel, I would like to compare an aspect of this with another novel, however I am not sure which one. E,g. the treatment of women in that time and area/the role of genders being reversed between the characters. |
In 'The Color Purple' - Celie finds the strength after a long time to move on with her life and to leave her father and husband. In 'Great Expectations' - Pip travels to London on his own and creates his own adventure to become a gentleman. There are themes such as the power of narrative and voice of the narrator, as it is from a female perspective, the power of strong female relationship between the characters and the power of communication through letters. |
